The Shape of Jazz to Come … in SF!

Next spring, I’ll be moving to San Francisco for a few months, and with this jazz kick I’ve been on, I’m really excited to see so many clubs and events to check out – in particular, a performance of Ornette Coleman’s The Shape of Jazz to Come (1959) at Joe Henderson Lab. This seminal album laid the groundwork for the avant-garde and free jazz era that followed. Even the title became a trope of sorts borrowed by rock band Refused, some 30 years later, for their own groundbreaking classic, The Shape of Punk

If you’re in the Bay Area, want to see some great jazz, or have a tip, write me!
